Ah, ça c'est un truc que j'aime bien vous proposer, les premieres. En temps d'anxiété de type hardcore, ça me stimule, j'écoute des trucs cool et j'écris dessus à la bourre, au final ça rend spontané et concis comme j'aime, c'est du bon stress, nickel ! Tiens, j'écris ce texte en écoutant le nouvel album de WEAVE, The Sound II, un groupe japonais qui fait ce qu'on pourrait globalement et aisément qualifier d'emo 90s avec un coté J-rock bien catchy, c'est cool ! Le morceau "Dive Into Sleep" est excellent... C'est dispo sur Spotify, ça sonne pas mal comme l'album Proper de INTO IT OVER IT et TEXAS IS THE REASON... Mais hey, ceux-là ne figurent pas sur le split dont il est question ;).
Bref, j'ai l'honneur et le privilège de vous présenter 2 morceaux qui n'ont absolument rien à voir avec le Japon ou le J-rock (à ceci près que je pense que 90% des personnes impliquées dans l'écriture, la production, la chronique et la promotion de ce split passent une grande partie du confinement à regarder des animes, je suis sur Haikyuu en ce moment, c'est wholesome et marrant comme il faut!). KAFKA., je vous en avais parlé avec beaucoup de passion et d'enthousiasme, avec leur demo parue en 2018 (ma review ici). Originaire de Prague, le groupe a cette particularité de chanter ses textes quasi-exclusivement en français, et reviennent sur ce split avec 2 nouveaux morceaux toujours de toute beauté. Je suis si content•e de les retrouver ! L'un d'entre eux apporte de nouvelles idées à leur son, et c'est ce morceau de KAFKA. que je voulais partager avec vous : "Chacun d'entre nous".
J'ai toujours beaucoup l'impression d'entendre du BELLE ÉPOQUE ou du CHAVIRÉ dans leurs mélodies saccadés, pleines d'urgence et de fougue, aux paroles aussi joliment imagées que politisées, mais ce titre me replonge avec tellement de plaisir dans ces sonorités si chaleureuses, presque douces, et pourtant si émouvantes, du LP Prima Che Tutto Bruci de ØJNE, ou de leur incroyable morceau "Da Qualche Parte, Nel Momento Giusto"... Ce morceau est très beau, apporte du baume au cœur, et encore une fois écrit avec un français très bien maîtrisé à quelques approximations près, chose très compliqué quand c'est pas ta langue natale. J'arrive pas à comprendre pourquoi je ne les ai pas encore vus sur un Fluff Fest, et j'ose espérer que l'orga profitera de l'année qu'elle va avoir devant elle pour réparer son erreur en 2021 ;). Bon, OK, le fest est pas encore annulé... Mais y'a encore des gens qui pensent que c'est possible de faire un festival en 2020 ? Le COVID-19 au bûcher !

Le second groupe à figurer sur le split dont je vous présente l'un des morceaux, nommé "нелюбовь" ("Lovelessness"), c'est JUNIOR LEAGUES. Au début, en voyant leur nom, j'ai cru que j'allais découvrir un groupe de pop-punk resté dans les années Tumblr et je me suis dit avec plaisir que "still not a phase", pourquoi pas ! Mais en fait, j'ai été mauvaise langue : Originaire de Rostov-sur-le-Don, Russie, où ils tiennent un peu l'étendard du screamo local avec TON RÊVE. et JACK NANCE (n'hésitez pas à me partager d'autres groupes emo / screamo du coin dans les commentaires, si j'en ai oublié !), ils proposent deux morceaux où le mood est nettement plus sombre (histoire de bien amorcer le terrain pour les superbes morceaux de type "étoile filante" de VIRGINIA ON DUTY), aussi bien en comparaison de ceux de KAFKA. que de leurs morceaux précédents. Les voix me font penser à celles de YOTSUYA KAIDAN, quelque chose qui se rapproche un peu du noise-rock, très scandé. Mais pas de doute, on est bien sur un screamo plutôt virulent mais pas pour autant écrasant, avec ses parties en blast beats et ses saccades qui vont bien. C'est également bien chouette, et ça se découvre juste en-dessous, avec le morceau de KAFKA. ainsi que la playlist du disque. En cherchant une photo de JUNIOR LEAGUES, je suis tombé-e sur une photo du chanteur vêtu d'un t-shirt BELGRADO, et ça c'est un gros bonus. Meilleur groupe post-punk de l'Europe de L'Est, plus que MOLCHAT DOMA / Молчат Дома, incontestable.

De quoi facilement le trouver près de chez soi, où il faut faire attention de bien s'y abriter pour le moment... Même si je sais ô combien c'est compliqué, pour certaines personnes. Mais si vous êtes valide, neurotypique, que vous ne subissez pas de violences, que vous avez de bonnes réserves de bouffe, que vous ne sortez pas pour aller bosser, acheter à manger ou des médicaments, ou bien aider des personnes dans le besoin : ne soyez pas stupides ou égoïstes et RESTEZ CHEZ VOUS. Le soleil, on peut le prendre à son balcon, à sa fenêtre... Ça va pas durer éternellement, ce confinement. Peut-être bien quelques mois oui, soyons réalistes, mais absolument pas toute une vie. ♡

Ah, premieres are something that I like to offer you. In times of "hardcore-mode" anxiety, it stimulates me, I listen to cool stuff and I write about it pretty late on the planned timeline of course, and in the end I write spontaneous and concise words as I like, it's good stress, noice! It's 3 a.m when I write this post, while listening to the new album of WEAVE, The Sound II, a Japanese band which plays what we can easily qualify as "90s emo with a J-rock vibe", it's very catchy and warm, it's cool! I have the honor and the privilege to share with the whole wild confined world 2 songs that have absolutely nothing to do with Japan or J-rock (except that I think 90% of people involved in writing, production, reviewing and promoting this split are spending a large part of the confinement watching anime, I'm on Haikyuu at the moment, it's wholesome and funny as it should be!). I told you about KAFKA. with a lot of passion and enthusiasm, with their demo published in 2018 (my review here). Based in Prague, the band has this particularity of singing its lyrics almost exclusively in French, and they are (finally!) coming back on this split 12" with 2 brightful new songs. One of them brings new ideas to their sound, and that's this song that I wanted to share with y'all: "Chacun d'entre nous".
I always have huge BELLE ÉPOQUE or CHAVIRÉ flashbacks in mind while listening to their jerky melodies full of urgency and ardor, with words as beautifully imagined as politicized, but this song immerses me with so much pleasure in these so warm, almost sweet, yet so touching sounds from ØJNE's LP Prima Che Tutto Bruci, or their incredible track "Da Qualche Parte, Nel Momento Giusto"... This track is very beautiful, it brought some balm to my heart at first listen, and again written in a near-perfect French (as their other song on this record), with a very few approximations, but it's a very complicated language to understand and to apply when it's not your native language. I can't believe that I still haven't seen them yet on a Fluff Fest, and I dare to hope that the Fluff crew will take advantage of the year to come before the next edition to fix this mistake. Well, OK, the fest is not yet canceled... But are there still people who think that it's possible to make a music festival in 2020? Please rot in fucking hell, COVID-19!

The second band to appear on the split is from JUNIOR LEAGUES and it's called "нелюбовь" ("Lovelessness"). At first, seeing their name, I thought I was going to discover a pop-punk band that stayed in the Tumblr years and I said to myself with an actual pleasure that "still not a phase", why not! But in fact, I was wrong, and immediately stopped doing that sketchy lyric quote on a live picture of the band: Originally from Rostov-sur-le-Don, Russia, where they kinda hold the banner of the local screamo with TON RÊVE. and JACK LANCE (don't hesitate to share with me the other local emo / screamo band in the comments, if I forgot any!), they offer two songs where the mood is much darker (just to prepare the ground for the crushing "shooting star" skramz of VIRGINIA ON DUTY), as well in comparison with those of KAFKA. than their previous songs. The vocals make me think of YOTSUYA KAIDAN, something that sounds a bit like noise-rock, pretty much shouted, you know? But no doubt, "нелюбовь" is a virulent but not too dark screamo piece, with the blast-beat and jerky parts we all love. While searching for a picture of JUNIOR LEAGUES, I found the singer wearing a BELGRADO shirt, which is a BIG bonus, best east-european post-punk, better than MOLCHAT DOMA / Молчат Дома, change my mind. So yeah, you'll not have many troubles to find this record near from where you live, where you have to be careful to shelter for the moment... Even if I know how complicated it is, for some people. But please, if you are valid, neurotypical, that you are not subjected to domestic violence or any kind of abuse, that you have a good supply of food, that you don't have to go out for work, if you don't need to buy food or medicine, or if it's not to help homeless/fragile people in need: don't be stupid or selfish and STAY AT HOME. You can take the sun from your balcony, from your windows... This confinement won't last forever, it's a promise. Maybe for a few months, let's be realistic, but absolutely not for a lifetime, this literally can't happen. And you're NOT alone in this, we are basically billions in that case. ♡
