Décontractés, les mecs de Raein ont sorti un EP sans que personne ne s'y attende.

Il y a quelques jours, les italiens de Raein, soit l'un des groupes cultes du early-2000's screamo, ont lancé un compte à rebours sur leur page Facebook. Tout le monde s'attendait simplement à entendre leurs morceaux du split avec Ampere en préparation. On en attendait tranquillement la fin pour découvrir ces titres jusqu'au jour J, où finalement le groupe nous l'a tous mis à envers : c'est en fait un EP 6 titres qui nous a été proposé, et en téléchargement gratuit s'il vous plaît. Nommé Perpetuum, ce disque nous propulse dans un univers tout en mélodies gavées en distorsion lorgnant parfois vers le shoegaze, rappelant les maîtres en la matière, Sore Eyelids, les influences math-rock en moi. En gros, ça continue directement sur la lancée de l'excellent titre "Amore e Guerra" paru sur leur split avec Loma Prieta en 2013. 

Voilà de quoi rendre son indie/punk plus intriguant qu'il ne l'est déjà. Il n'hésite pas à reprendre ses vieux élans skramz sur "Polline. Pensieri Generosi Delle Donne", tout en restant dans la ligne directrice de cet EP. Au final, il n'y a rien de surprenant sur Perpetuum, mais il est suffisamment catchy, rempli de tension et intense pour ne pas que tu l'oublies au bout de deux semaines, et c'est un outil de sing-along très efficace, d'autant plus que tout est chanté en chœur sur ce disque. Ils joueront au Fluff Fest cette année, ce disque semble être taillé pour cette édition, et pour nous faire chanter avec eux. Ne loupes pas la séance karaoké la plus fragile de cette année !

A few days ago, the dudes in Raein, one of the most important early-2000's screamo bands, have launched a countdown on their Facebook page. Everyone have been thinking that at the end of this countdown, they will simply hear the songs that Raein have recorded for a split with Ampere. But at the D-day, the surprise was complete : it was in fact a surprise 6-song EP ! Named Perpetuum, that precious one is available in free download on their website, when the physical edition of this record is expected this summer. This LP sent us into thousand of overdrived melodies, sometimes shoegazey, what reminds me Sore Eyelids, without the math-rock touch. Basically, it continues directly on the momentum of the excellent song "Amore e Guerra" who appeared on their split with Loma Prieta in 2013. 

With this abrasive and fuzzy sound, the indie/punk of the italian band is now even more intriguing. They don't hesitate to playing the good old skramz thing in "Polline, Pensieri Generosi Delle Donne". There's nothing really surprising with this EP, but it's enough catchy and (in)tense to not be forgotten after two weeks : it's a very strong sing-along tool, all the songs are sung in choir, with powerful lyrics. Raein will play Fluff Fest this year, and Perpetuum seems to be made for being played all summer long, being learned by heart and being sung in full by the audience. Don't miss the most fragile emo karaoke session of the year!
