Oui oui, rien que ça. C'est le seul groupe européen que j'estime actuellement capable de prétendre à ce titre, car la scène anglaise se suffit à elle-même. MOTHER nous vient d'Italie, et on dirait pourtant qu'ils viennent de Washington D.C, et c'est typiquement le genre de groupe qu'on pourrait aujourd'hui retrouver chez Run For Cover, New Morality Zine ou Triple B.
Ils m'ont envoyé par mail leur premier titre sorti en vinyle, sur un joli flexi 7" doré, mais qui n'est pas leur tout premier morceau : "Dillydallying". Et wow, c'est vraiment super bien. Ca fleure bon l'indie rock 90's tout autant que le post-hardcore de chez Dischord Records, du Revolution Summer, de GIVE, ça me rappelle également fortement FIDDLEHEAD... C'est juste frais en fait, et ça me donne un peu de nostalgie. Ca fait du bien d'entendre quelque chose d'aussi agréable en ces temps sombres pour tout le monde.
Avec un premier titre aussi catchy, lumineux et touchant, impossible de leur résister. Le clip est également très cool, illustrant l'intimité et la sensibilité du protagoniste. Mais ils ont également sorti avant cela un EP nommé Love Vision en 2019, qui illustrait un panel un peu plus large de leurs influences, allant du hardcore au grunge en passant évidemment par la scène de D.C. Et je ne comprends pas pourquoi les italiens n'ont pas eu le buzz mérité.
Avec un logo et un message aussi cool, comment voulez-vous ne pas avoir la curiosité de tendre l'oreille à leurs morceaux ? Je me fais pas trop d'espoirs, mais je vais tenter de réparer l'injustice que représente leur trop petite notoriété avec ce modeste post, en espérant vous faire découvrir et aimer MOTHER. Ils comptent bientôt sortir un autre nouveau single axé "youth crew" tout en restant dans leur mood caractéristique. La pandémie de coronavirus a stoppé net leurs possibilités d'écrire de nouveaux morceaux, mais un album est également bien dans les tuyaux, et j'ai déjà hâte ! Dès qu'on me propose un truc aussi emo que hardcore dans l'âme et les riffs, j'achète direct de toute façon...
Yes I'm saying it. It's the only European band that I currently consider capable of claiming this title, because the English scene is sufficient on its own. MOTHER comes from Italy, and yet it looks like they are from Washington D.C, and they are typically the kind of band that we could find today on Run For Cover, New Morality Zine or Triple B.

It's just super fresh, and it gives me a bit of nostalgia. It feels good to hear something so nice in these dark times.

I don't have too many hopes, but I will try to repair the injustice represented by their too little notoriety with this modest post, hoping to make you discover and love MOTHER. They soon plan to release another new single focused on "youth crew" sound while remaining in their characteristic mood. The coronavirus pandemic has put an end to their possibilities of writing new songs, but an album is also well in the works, and I cannot wait! As soon as I can hear something as emo as hardcore in the soul and the riffs, It's an instant crush for me anyway...
